Housing minister pushes plan for 25k apartments in Jerusalem, most over Green Line
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleThe Housing and Construction Ministry is planning a major apartment development project encompassing areas across Jerusalem, both over the Green Line and within Israel’s pre-1967 lines.
According to a Channel 2 report, the plan includes 10,000 apartment units across the city, and another 15,000 units over the Green Line — 10,000 of which are slated for the area around the former Jerusalem airport at Atarot in the city’s northern extreme.
Housing Minister Yoav Galand is behind the development plan and seeks to get the municipality and government on board ahead of US President Donald Trump’s visit at the end of May.
The overall cost, says Channel 2, is estimated to be around NIS 4 billion — slightly over one billion dollars.
