Member states of the International Criminal Court vote to dismiss Karim Khan as prosecutor following allegations of sexual misconduct, two diplomatic sources tell Reuters.
According to the sources, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss a sensitive matter, 82 of the court’s 125 member states voted in favor of the prosecutor’s removal. Khan denies the allegations.
Khan, in his capacity as ICC prosecutor, spearheaded the issuing of arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defense minister Yoav Gallant on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Israel denies the allegations and has argued that the charges are illegitimate due to Karim’s alleged crimes.
