The IDF says it carried out a strike in Beirut a short while ago.

No further details are given.

According to Lebanese media, the strike took place in Shuwayfat, just south of the Lebanese capital.

It marks the first Israeli strike on Beirut since May 6. Amid the ceasefire in Lebanon, the IDF has mostly avoided striking the Lebanese capital at the request of the Trump administration. Hebrew media widely reported, citing Israeli officials, that the White House fears that strikes in Beirut so could harm ongoing negotiations with Iran.
