There is no immediate official Israeli response to the terms of a Memorandum of Understanding agreed between the US and Iran, and now subject to President Donald Trump’s approval.
Senior Israeli sources tell Channel 12, however, that Israel has seen no indication that Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has approved the terms, and therefore “Trump has nothing to approve” at this stage.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf “may have reached agreements and guiding points with the Iranian negotiating team, but they do not have signing rights,” the report quotes Israeli sources saying. “We do not have indications that Mojtaba has said yes.”
Channel 12’s Barak Ravid earlier quoted a “very senior American source” saying the terms were agreed “by all levels” of the Iranian leadership. But he cautioned that “we will have to see” whether the US sources were correct and Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has indeed approved it.
