Prime Minister Yair Lapid convenes the high-level security cabinet to discuss tensions along the border of the Gaza Strip, his office says.

Lapid receives a briefing from top defense officials regarding the situation in the south, and the members of the cabinet discuss Israel’s current assessments and actions it has been taking to defend against the imminent threat of an Islamic Jihad attack on the border.

“The prime minister continues to receive regular updates on the situation in the Gaza Strip and its surroundings and holds briefings several times a day,”  the Prime Minister’s Office says.

The PMO adds that ministers also received an update regarding US-mediated negotiations with Lebanon over a disputed maritime border.
