From Modi replies in Hebrew to Lapid’s Hindi greeting ahead of Israel visit

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi says he is looking forward to arriving in Israel today, writing in Hebrew on X in response to a post in Hindi from Opposition Leader Yair Lapid welcoming him.
“I also look forward to my visit to Israel. I am confident that my visit will further strengthen the bilateral relations between our countries,” Modi writes.
Lapid wrote on X last night, “All of Israel is looking forward to welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow. He is a true friend of Israel. The relationship between Israel and India is not only a strategic one, but a bond of deep friendship between the peoples.”
The Indian prime minister is slated to touch down at Ben Gurion airport shortly before 1 p.m., where he will be greeted by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. They’ll then head to Jerusalem, where they will be received in an official welcome ceremony at the Knesset.
Lapid has threatened to boycott Modi’s speech to the Knesset unless Supreme Court President Isaac Amit is invited, which Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana has refused to do.
