Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appoints Gal Hirsch, a reservist brigadier general who commanded the 91st Division in the 2006 Second Lebanon War, as the government’s point man on missing and kidnapped citizens.

All government agencies will be under his direction on the matter, Netanyahu’s office says.

The position has been empty for the past year after the last official in the post, Yaron Blum, announced his resignation.
