Obama acknowledges difference between East Jerusalem and West Bank

President Barack Obama acknowledges that there is a difference between East Jerusalem and the West bank even though the UN resolution condemning Israeli settlements lumped them together.

“Of course” Obama said, when asked if he saw the difference in an interview with Channel 2.

However, he said that East Jerusalem is currently considered occupied, but this could change after negotiations.

“Some parts of what are currently considered occupied territories will come into Israel in negotiations,” Obama says in the interview noting that history and strategic depth would come into account in peace talks.

“Even Israel acknowledges the status of East Jerusalem is a live issue in negotiations,” he says.
