Police say they have launched an investigation into a fire at a shrine on the Route 55 highway, between the central city of Kfar Saba and the West Bank town of Qalqilya.

The site is believed to be the burial place of Benjamin, the son of Jacob.

“Police officers are conducting on-site searches alongside collecting forensic findings and are summoning a fire investigator,” police say.

Police add that the circumstances of the fire are still under investigation.
