Report: Jordanian FM set to visit Tehran today
Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi is set to visit Tehran today, according to Iranian media.
The semi-official ISNA news agency says Safadi will meet his Iranian counterpart Ali Bagheri amid escalating tensions in the region, as well as Amman-Tehran relations.
Safadi and Bagheri spoke on the phone over the weekend, the Jordanian foreign minister writes on X.
He also said in a meeting with Luxembourg’s foreign minister Xavier Bettel on Thursday that Jordan “will not allow anybody to turn Jordan into a battleground. We have to protect our country.”
Jordan, along with the United States, Britain, and France, helped to intercept the massive barrage of drones Iran fired at Israel on April 13-14.
