Report: PM decides to leave state comptroller post vacant after coalition’s selection annulled due to illicit vote
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GooglePrime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has decided against filling the post of state comptroller for now, after the High Court annulled the coalition’s selection due to the vote being conducted illicitly, the Kan public broadcaster reports.
Coalition members were instructed to film themselves voting for Netanyahu’s personal lawyer and preferred candidate for state comptroller, Michael Rabello, amid concerns that some lawmakers would vote differently in what was supposed to be a secret ballot.
The High Court of Justice ordered that a new vote be conducted, but Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana is refusing to hold one.
