Reports say three to five Palestinians killed in Jabaliya; Israeli assessment: Another failed PIJ rocket launch

Several people have been killed in Jabaliya in northern Gaza, according to Palestinian media reports.

The Palestinian reports put the number of fatalities at five, including children, and claim they were caused by an Israeli air strike.

Israel’s Channel 12, however, says the number of fatalities is three to five, and cites an assessment in the Israeli defense establishment that “it is very likely” that the deaths were caused by a failed rocket launch.

The reports come ahead of the expected start of an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire deal at 8 p.m, and as Palestinian Islamic Jihad continues to fire rockets toward Israeli communities.
