The Brothers in Arms protest group, made up of reservists from the Israel Defense Forces, calls on the coalition to cancel today’s deliberations on the “reasonableness” bill, saying the anti-overhaul protests will continue for as long as the legislation continues to be advanced.

“Rothman, stop the discussions in the Constitution Committee!” the organization says in a statement, addressing far-right Religious Zionism MK Simcha Rothman, the chair of the Knesset’s Constitution, Law and Justice Committee and a key architect of the government’s contentious plans to dramatically weaken the judiciary.

“We give our backing to the IDF soldiers currently operating in Jenin. As long as Simcha Rothman chooses to continue the discussions in the constitution committee, we are forced to continue protesting,” the organization says.

“We call on Rothman to cancel today’s discussions,” the statement reads.

Anti-overhaul protests were ramped up today as the Knesset committee was set to meet to continue its talks on the contentious legislation to limit judicial oversight on government decisions.
