Security Council votes down Russian-backed resolution calling for Gaza ceasefire

A Russian-drafted UN Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza has failed to win the nine-vote minnimum.

Only Russia, China, the UAE and Gabon voted in favor of the draft, while nine members abstained; and the US and the UK voted against.
