Thousands of people are gathered in Tel Aviv’s Hostages Square for a protest and memorial event marking 1,000 days since the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led invasion and massacre.
The protesters are demanding a state commission of inquiry into the failures surrounding the attack, the deadliest in Israel’s history.

Merav Svirsky, whose parents were murdered in the attack on Kibbutz Be’eri and whose brother Itay was abducted to Gaza and killed, also speaks at the event.
Einav Zangauker, the mother of former hostage Matan Zangauker and a leading member of the protest movement that advocated for a hostage deal throughout the two-year war with Hamas, is in attendance, along with Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai and Democrats chair Yair Golan.
