Three Jewish sites vandalized over weekend with antisemitic graffiti in Halifax, Canada

Two synagogues and a Jewish community building were vandalized with antisemitic graffiti over the weekend in Halifax, Canada.

The Beth Israel synagogue was vandalized with graffiti reading, “Jews did 9/11,” and on the same street, the Shaar Shalom Congregation was vandalized with a swastika.

Graffiti reading, “Jews did 9/11,” was also scrawled on a building linked with the Chabad-Lubavitch of the Maritimes Rohr Family Institute.

Rabbi Yakov Kerzner of Beth Israel synagogue tells the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation the incidents are an “escalation which does concern the Jewish community.”

“We haven’t experienced this until now in Halifax,” he says.

“I’ve seen it … throughout Canada over the last two years…. I don’t know where this is going but I’m concerned about it,” Rabbi Gary Karlin of Shaar Shalom says.
