Turkey blasts fresh Russian ‘provocation’ with warship

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Sunday blasts as “provocation” images of a Russian serviceman armed with a rocket launcher as his warship passed through Turkish waters.

“Russian war vessels showing weapons is a provocation,” Cavusoglu says in a speech broadcast on the private NTV television.

NTV reports that the “Caesar Kunikov” belonging to the Russian navy’s Black Sea fleet passes through the Bosphorus on Sunday morning, however other media say the incident occurred on Friday.

NTV broadcasts pictures of a Russian serviceman aboard the vessel with a type of rocket or missile launcher on his shoulder in the firing position.

Russia and Turkey have been plunged into their worst crisis since the Cold War over Turkey’s downing of a Russian jet on its border with Syria on November 24 — sparking fury and economic sanctions from the Kremlin.
