Deborah Lipstadt, the US ambassador to monitor and combat antisemitism, says that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s recent comments on the Holocaust are “ludicrous.”

In an interview with CBS yesterday, Raisi — asked about the Holocaust — suggested that it should be”investigated by researchers and historians. There are some signs that it happened.”

Lipstadt says Raisi’s “call for ‘research’ to determine whether the Holocaust happened is ludicrous and dangerous. His statement is a form of Holocaust denial and a form of antisemitism.”
