Man killed in four-truck pileup on Route 6; bystanders loot vehicle

One person was killed and another injured in an accident involving four trucks on Route 6 early Wednesday, police and medics said.
The accident occurred in the northbound lanes near the southern city of Kiryat Gat.
Magen David Adom medics said that the driver of one of the trucks, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. A second person was taken to the hospital in good condition.
Police said they were investigating the cause of the deadly crash and the road would remain closed until investigators concluded their probe and the vehicles could be removed.
In the aftermath of the crash, pictures posted to social media showed bystanders caught in the traffic jam looting one of the trucks.
Dozens of people could be seen carrying cardboard boxes away from the vehicle.

It was not immediately clear why police who were present at the site did not intervene to stop the theft.
