A newborn baby was found abandoned in a cardboard box in the northern city of Acre on Thursday.

A passerby found the infant, believed to be only a few days old, and called the police.

First responders from the Magen David Adom emergency services group rushed the child to the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya.

The baby was conscious and in good condition, apart from some bleeding around the area of the umbilical cord. He was transferred to the hospital’s maternity ward.
