Graphic novelist Rutu Modan’s award-winning book, “The Property,” now adapted as a film directed by her sister, actor Dana Modan, will reach Israeli movie theaters this December.
The book, which won an Eisner Award for best new graphic album at the San Diego Comic-Con International in 2014, tells the story of a young Israeli woman and her grandmother who travel to Warsaw to reclaim the deed to an apartment building their family was forced to relinquish in World War II.
Their trip becomes more complicated and mysterious than it initially seemed, as grandmother Regina has kept certain details about the family to herself.
Meanwhile, granddaughter Mica meets a good-looking Polish man and the trip turns into more of a journey.
Sisters Rutu and Dana Modan co-wrote the screenplay, which Dana Modan directed as her debut film, starring Uri Hochman (“Shtisel”), Sharon Strimban and veteran actress Rikva Michaeli.
