A six-week old baby was declared dead Wednesday morning after suffering a serious injury the night before when a table fell on him in the city of Beit Shemesh.

The accident happened during an event for women at a function hall in the city, west of Jerusalem. The table was apparently standing at the side of the hall when it fell on the baby, who was in a stroller.

Magen David Adom paramedics who arrived at the scene found the child with a serious head injury and worked to resuscitate him as they rushed him to Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem in Jerusalem.

The hospital said Wednesday morning that the boy had died of his injuries.
