US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will lead a Congressional delegation visiting Israel this week, according to a schedule issued by the Foreign Ministry.

She and seven Democratic colleagues will arrive on Tuesday and will be greeted in an official ceremony at the Knesset where they will then observe the deliberations in the plenum on Wednesday.

She will be joined by Reps. Adam Schiff, Ted Deutch, Barbara Lee, Bill Keating, Eric Swalwell, Ro Khanna and Andy Kim.

This is not Pelosi’s first visit to the Jewish state. Most recently, she led a delegation of Democrat representatives to Israel in 2018 ahead of the country’s 70th Independence Day. That trip included a visit to Jordan.

Pelosi is considered a staunch supporter of Israel, maintaining close relations with the US Jewish community.

In remarks to the press ahead of her meeting with Foreign Minister Yair Lapid during his visit to Washington last October, Pelosi said that “Israel has always been bipartisan in the Congress of the United States, and it continues to be so.”

She added, “For many of us, [support for Israel] is in our DNA. For all of us, it’s at least bipartisan.”
