With general elections for the Knesset looming, Israel’s political parties are jockeying to convince the public who has the best policies for the country as it faces powder keg security challenges in the region and delicate diplomacy on the global stage.

Representatives from the main factions held a live debate moderated by the Times of Israel’s Haviv Rettig-Gur and organized by the Tel Aviv International Salon, in Tel Aviv on January 3.

On stage were MKs Tamar Zandberg (Meretz), Hilik Bar (Labor), Yaakov Peri (Yesh Atid), Tzachi Hanegbi (Likud), Ayelet Shaked (Jewish Home) and Knesset hopeful Michael Oren (Kulanu).
