Police were investigating a possible hit-and-run after a teenage girl was found badly injured early Monday morning along the side of a road in northern Israel, police said.
The teenager, identified in reports as a 16-year-old resident of Haifa, was found on Route 22 between the Ata and Bialik junctions in a semiconscious state with a number of injuries.
After receiving medical treatment at the scene, she was evacuated to Haifa’s Rambam Medical Center.
Heavy traffic was reported in both directions on Road 22 in the area where the young woman was found.
Police requested that the public to report any information they have about the incident and called on anyone responsible to turn himself in.
