A woman was seriously injured after she was hit by a police car driving along Jerusalem’s light rail track Thursday.
Paramedics called to the scene found the woman, in her 20s, unconscious and suffering from a head wound, according to a statement from the Magen David Adom ambulance service.
The medics treated her on the scene and then took her to Shaare Zedek Medical Center, where she arrived in a serious condition, the statement read.
Police claimed in a statement that the woman was in a moderate-light condition and that they opened an investigation into the incident.
Ynet news reported that Jerusalem residents have complained for years that police drive relatively quickly along the light rail tracks in close proximity to pedestrians.
