Three Palestinian West Bank residents were arrested on Sunday in Rosh Ha’ayin after citizens called police to report the trio was acting suspiciously and seemed to be casing houses.

Police were called to the scene, not far from the Green Line, and caught the group red-handed in an attempted break-in. As they were making their escape, one of the suspects was able to hijack a police vehicle with an officer still inside, but police opened fire on the vehicle and subdued the escaping thief. During the incident, a second suspect tried to run over a police officer, but was unsuccessful and he, too, was captured.

No injuries were reported in the incident. Police said they investigated the vehicle used by the suspects and found that it was full of stolen merchandise, likely taken from homes in the area.
