A video posted to YouTube on Friday poked fun at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for seemingly taking advantage of a good photo opportunity when welcoming US President Barack Obama on the tarmac at Ben Gurion Airport.
Noting the beautiful weather upon arrival on Wednesday, Obama later took off his suit jacket while walking around in the sun. Netanyahu, strolling next to the US president, appeared to think for a brief moment and then casually slipped off his own jacket.
It was a harmless gesture, really. But one that didn’t go unnoticed by the media and blogosphere.
In the YouTube clip, images of Jacketgate are interwoven with moments from the 80s classic “Twins,” featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito, with the song “Anything you can do” playing in the background. In the movie, the actors play twin brothers, one of whom ended up on top in the genetic lottery, and the other one who, well… is played by DeVito.
Looking at Obama and Netanyahu side by side, it is unclear where the intended irony ends.

We can't do this work alone.
The war with Iran has been draining for all of us in Israel. But when I heard about a high casualty incident – ballistic missile impacts in Arad and Dimona that left nearly 200 people wounded – I drank a cup of coffee, packed a bag, and headed south.
There, I spoke with Shilgit, the head of an after-school program for underprivileged youth. Standing outside her destroyed center, Shilgit said it was a miracle that no children were hurt and spoke about the community coming together in the hours since.
As a Times of Israel reporter, I’m committed to telling stories of resilience like Shilgit’s. But my colleagues and I can't do this alone.
