A border policeman was lightly wounded on Saturday night in clashes with Palestinian protesters in the Shuafat refugee camp in East Jerusalem.

Demonstrators hurled rocks and Molotov cocktails at Israeli troops during the riot. The wounded cop was hit by a stone, and received medical treatment at the scene. The police used crowd dispersal means to break up the protest.

In a separate incident on Saturday night in the capital, two cops were lightly hurt after a car rammed into their vehicle on Herzog street, after the police officers signaled it to stop. The three occupants of the car — Palestinians from the West Bank — abandoned the vehicle several blocks away and fled by foot, according to the Walla news website.

Two were arrested by police, and the cops were searching the area for the third suspect. In the car, police located items believed to have been stolen.

Clashes between Palestinians and Israeli troops are not uncommon in restive East Jerusalem, which saw a major uptick in violence during last summer’s Gaza conflict. The violence, which has since mostly abated, spilled into the winter months with weekly riots in East Jerusalem and a string of stabbings and deadly car-ramming attacks.

On Friday, an IDF officer was lightly wounded in the Jilazoun refugee camp, near the West Bank City of Ramallah, when some 50 Palestinian demonstrators threw stones at IDF soldiers. The officer was taken to Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem for treatment.

On Wednesday, a Palestinian man was shot by Israeli security forces in the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank. The army said he was targeted after he attempted to hurl a bomb at troops.

Ezzedine Ghora, 23, was hit by two bullets in his arm and chest, and died before reaching the hospital, Palestinian medical sources said. The IDF disputed the circumstances of the man’s death.
