A woman was killed Tuesday when a tree collapsed and fell on her in Wadi Rushmiya, a small valley in the city of Haifa.
The woman, a grandmother in her fifties, was hiking with her family when the tree crashed down on them. A man in his fifties was lightly injured in the incident.
Paramedics arrived at the scene but were unable to resuscitate the woman.
Earlier in the day, Channel 10 reported that a woman in her fifties was seriously injured when she fell from the third floor of an apartment building in Tel Aviv. A man was moderately injured by an outdoor grill in Herzliya, and suffered first and second degree burns all over his body.
Millions of Israelis were hitting museums and parks, hiking, picnicking and barbecuing on Tuesday to celebrate Israel’s 66th Independence Day.
