American actress Emmy Rossum said she was harassed on Twitter by anti-Semitic supporters of President-elect Donald Trump.
Rossum, who is Jewish and stars on the Showtime show “Shameless,” said Saturday that she has received messages saying “get ready for the trains” and threatening to send her “to the gas chambers.”
She tweeted an example of one anti-Semitic message, which included an image of the entrance to Auschwitz adorned with the Trump Tower logo. The picture was captioned: “This is all your ilk’s future, you will be seeing a train shortly. Hollywood days of subjugation is over! SEIG HEIL!”
Rossum, 30, had said previously that the outcome of the presidential election felt “personal” to her because of her Jewish heritage and certain family members.
“I am a woman. I am Jewish. I am marrying an Arab American. My sister in law is handicapped. I’m a victim of sexual violence.” she wrote. “It’s personal.”
Rossum has been engaged to Egyptian-American director Sam Esmail, creator of the television series “Mr. Robot,” since August 2015.

Trump, during a bitter two-year campaign that tugged at America’s democratic fabric, pledged to deport illegal immigrants and ban Muslims, and called Mexicans rapists and drug runners, claims which have created fears of xenophobia — and potentially of mass deportations — now that he has been elected to office.
Since Trump’s upset win last week, watchdog groups have reported an uptick in racist and xenophobic incidents.
In a Sunday night interview, Trump called on his supporters to stop harassing and threatening minorities and committing acts of vandalism in his name.
“I am so saddened to hear that. And I say, Stop it. If it — if it helps. I will say this, and I will say right to the cameras: Stop it,” he said.
Trump said he was surprised to hear about the violent acts and thought it must be a small number of incidents.
“I would say don’t do it, that’s terrible, ’cause I’m gonna bring this country together,” he said.
