A 68-year-old tourist drowned in the Dead Sea Wednesday, according to the Magen David Adom ambulance service.

The man, said to be an Argentine national, was seen struggling in the salty waters of the Dead Sea by other beachgoers at the popular seaside shopping and hotel complex at Ein Bokek.

A lifeguard rushed into the water and dragged the man to shore, where he collapsed.

When medics arrived, the man was not breathing and had no pulse. After an attempt at resuscitation, medics were forced to pronounce him dead at the scene.
