Celebrate Bob Dylan at the Tel Aviv Diaspora museum

If you love Bob Dylan, this may be a late notice, but definitely worth the effort.

As part of the “Forever Young” Dylan exhibit, Tel Aviv University’s Beit Hatfutsot Diaspora Museum is hosting a Bob Dylan Symposium on Thursday, March 23.

The day begins with an 11 a.m. screening of 1967 documentary “Bob Dylan: Don’t Look Back,” followed by a series of lectures, including one about Dylan’s love songs by poet Karen Alkalay-Gut, a discussion about Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen with Stephen Hazan Arnoff, and whether Dylan’s work reflects the search of a new Jewish American identity with Yoav Frumer, followed by performances of some of his works.

The afternoon brings more lectures about Nobel laureate Dylan’s memoirs as well as Nisim Calderon’s look at singer Meir Ariel’s Hebrew translations of Dylan, and a discussion of his vocal attitudes and readings from his chronicles.

The evening events begin with a guided tour of the exhibit, followed by an 8 p.m. concert and talk with Shlomi Shaban, hosted by 88 FM’s Boaz Cohen.
