Yesterday, much of Israel tuned in to the unprecedented 13-hour High Court hearing on the constitutionality of the coalition’s “reasonableness” law, an amendment to a Basic Law. In the marathon session, we heard from a variety of petitioners against the amendment, as well as the government itself.
The Declaration of Independence also had a starring role as the government’s representative, Ilan Bombach, called it an unrepresentative, “hastily written document.” Is that really the case?
