A 33-year-old diver drowned Tuesday in a work accident at the new Haifa port.

The man, a resident of Majd al-Krum, was an employee of Nachshon, a company working on the construction of new port facilities in the east of Haifa Bay.

He was rushed to the city’s Rambam Hospital in critical condition, where he died.

Police said the man was hurt while operating underwater equipment, but gave no further details.

An investigation has been launched into the death.

Also Tuesday, a man in his 60s was in critical condition after being pulled out of the water near Tel Aviv’s Manta Ray Beach.
