Egyptian Muslim cleric Wahid Abd Al-Salam Bali preaching Islam in Africa (MEMRI)
An Egyptian cleric has in recent years launched a massive campaign aimed at converting citizens of several African nations to Islam, specifically preaching to Christian rural communities and convincing them to publicly attest that “Jesus is the slave of Allah and His Messenger.”
Wahid Abd Al-Salam Bali has led several Islamization delegations consisting mostly of Egyptian preachers.
The delegations have toured the Islamic nations of Malawi, Uganda, Tanzania, and Ghana, according to the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).
The MEMRI watchdog group posted clips of the cleric in Africa on Saturday.

According to Sheikh Bali’s Facebook page, a seven-day campaign in Malawi earlier this month yielded 4,379 new converts.

In order to appeal to the local Christian communities, the Egyptian preachers slightly modified the shahada recitation, a statement of religious faith Muslims are required to accept and recite.
According to MEMRI, to the customary statement “I attest that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger,” the preachers added on the sentence, “I attest that Jesus is the slave of Allah and His Messenger.”
