Gantz says ‘everything’s fine’ after brief hospitalization for exam

Defense Minister Benny Gantz, the alternate prime minister, was briefly hospitalized Sunday morning after “not feeling well,” his office said in a statement.

The Blue and White chair checked into the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Aviv’s Ramat Gan suburb for a “consultation” with his personal doctor, Dr. Shlomo Segev, the statement said.

Released a few hours later, Gantz put up a video on Twitter saying that “everything is fine.”

“These days it’s not worth taking too many risks. We stopped, took a small examination. Everything is fine… I am continuing my work,” he said, without specifying what sort of test he underwent.

Last month, Gantz, a former IDF chief of staff, had surgery for a herniated disc he sustained during his army service. Sheba said at the time that the operation was “successfully completed as planned,” despite a nurse “in close proximity” to the procedure later being diagnosed with coronavirus.

Gantz’s hospital visit comes after Yamina chair Naftali Bennett was also hospitalized at Sheba Medical Center on Saturday, for the second time in a week.

Last Tuesday Bennett was hospitalized for a series of tests for neck and back pain, and was released the next day after undergoing anesthesia, his office said.
