Human remains discovered in woods in northern Israel

Police investigate after hikers find bone in forest near Zichron Yaakov; officials believe body may be that of female from area missing for months

Human remains were discovered Saturday in the woods near the community of Aviel in northern Israel.

In the morning hikers reported to police finding a bone they suspected belonged to a human near the community, which is located southeast of Zichron Yaakov.

Police, including forensic specialists, arrived at the scene and found more bones, confirming them to be human.

Police are investigating the identity of the deceased. They suspect the remains may be those of a female from the area who has been missing for several months. Her family has been notified.
