IDF launches series of airstrikes on Hezbollah targets in south Lebanon

The Israel Defense Forces launched wave of airstrikes in southern Lebanon Friday evening that it said destroyed Hezbollah infrastructure and heavy machinery.
The engineering equipment was used by Hezbollah to restore its infrastructure in the Mazraat al-Daoudiyeh area, the military said.
“The presence of these infrastructure sites and the engineering vehicles in the area, as well as Hezbollah’s use of them for rebuilding terror infrastructure sites in Lebanon, constitute a violation of the ceasefire understandings between Israel and Lebanon,” the IDF said.
The strikes came hours after after the Israeli Air Force targeted a Hezbollah operative in the southern Lebanese town of Seddiqine.
According to the IDF, the operative killed in the strike was involved in attempts to restore Hezbollah’s infrastructure.
The operative’s activities constituted a violation of the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, the military added.

Israel and Lebanon agreed to a US-brokered ceasefire in November 2024, ending more than a year of fighting between Israel and Hezbollah that had culminated in Israeli strikes and a ground offensive that severely weakened the terror group. Since then, the sides have traded accusations over violations, with Israel insisting that Hezbollah has worked to rearm itself and launching regular airstrikes in response.
The conflict began on October 8, 2023, when Hezbollah started firing rockets and drones at northern Israel, one day after its fellow Iran-backed terror group Hamas launched a shock assault on southern Israel, sparking the war in Gaza.
