A 60-year-old Israeli man is missing after disembarking from his yacht on the Italian island of Capri, Israel’s Foreign Ministry said Thursday.
The Israeli man took part in a yacht trip to the islands off Italy’s western coastline. On Wednesday night, he arrived at the island of Capri, boarded a rubber dinghy to the island, and disappeared. All attempts to contact the man over the past 24 hours have failed, officials said.
The Israeli consul in Rome and the ministry’s Israelis Abroad Department are in touch with Italy’s coast guard and local police, who have launched a search for the man.
The man had travel insurance, according to Hadashot TV news, and the Phoenix insurance company and Magnus rescue agency are launching a search for him on the Italian island.
“Teams from the Italian coast guard, in coordination with the Magnus control center, the Foreign Ministry and the Phoenix insurance company, are working to locate him,” Magnus said in a statement.
