The Anti-Defamation League releases a ranking system that evaluates how leading video games control antisemitism.

The Online Gaming Leaderboard, the first evaluation of its kind for video games, assesses 10 of the most popular online games on their policies meant to rein in antisemitism, hate speech, extremism and terrorism and code of conduct.

The ranking also examines in-game abilities such as whether gamers can block or mute other players, report other players, and if the platforms allow participants to use antisemitic usernames.

The best-ranked games are Fortnite, Call of Duty, Minecraft and GTA Online.

The games to receive the worst rankings are Clash Royale, Counter-Strike 2 and PUBG: Battlegrounds.

The ranking system is meant to serve as a resource for parents, policymakers, gamers and the video game industry.

“Without strong safeguards, these platforms can become breeding grounds for harassment and hateful activity that harms players directly, normalizes hateful ideologies and damages trust,” ADL chief Jonathan Greenblatt says in a statement.

The ranking system is based on a study by the ADL’s Center for Technology and Society and the gaming analytics group NewZoo, and based on a survey carried from 2019 to 2023.
