A lecture on “Ancient Israel and Judah in the British Museum” will be held Thursday after the original talk was postponed due to security concerns.
The talk at the British Museum, part of the country’s Jewish Culture Month, was originally supposed to take place on May 28, but was called off after the museum learned that it was likely to be disrupted by anti-Israel activists. The museum said at the time it would be rescheduled.
The talk by Paul Collins, Keeper of the Department of the Middle East, on the historical and archaeological record of the region will now take place on Thursday.
A livestream of the talk will be offered online, due to high demand, the museum says.
Jewish Culture Month is the first event of its kind in the United Kingdom, organized by the Board of Deputies of British Jews. The festivities run through June 16, and include more than 100 events celebrating Jewish heritage, creativity and culture across the UK.
