The ultra-contagious Delta variant is responsible for more than 90% of new COVID cases in Israel over the past two weeks, reports Haaretz based on Health Ministry figures.

According to the report, the Delta variant was behind only 60% of new cases in the country just two weeks ago. The Delta variant is believed to be 2x as contagious as the original COVID strain and 1.5x more contagious than the Alpha variant first discovered in the UK.
