Explosive damages south Tel Aviv apartment building in suspected underworld attack
Police say they are investigating an incident in which an explosive device is thought to have been thrown at a residence in south Tel Aviv, amid a rash of suspected gangland attacks involving grenades.
The incident is being treated as a domestic criminal matter, police say in a statement. No injuries are reported.
According to authorities, neighbors reported hearing an explosion near an apartment building in the Kiryat Shalom neighborhood of the city early Sunday.
“There is damage at the scene,” the police statement says.
Hebrew media reports connect the incident to an ongoing feud between the Jarushi and Musli crime syndicates, which has been blamed for dozens of similar attacks on homes and businesses in central Israel in recent months.
