The kibbutz dining hall was also hit by mortar fire, Army Radio reports.

The attacks on the kibbutz have seen most of its 350 members leave and take refuge further north.

Tragerman’s parents were about the head away when the fatal shelling happened.

Gila Tragerman, Daniel’s mother, said they were going to her parents in Kiryat Ono.

They were in their house when the fatal mortar shell exploded outside, sending shrapnel into the house and killing Daniel before he could get to their protected room.
