IDF says it fired interceptor at suspected drone aimed at Kiryat Shmona, contact lost with target

Following sirens that sounded a short while ago in the northern border community of Kiryat Shmona, warning of a suspected drone infiltration, the IDF says an interceptor missile was launched toward a “suspicious aerial target,” before contact with it was lost.

The statement implies that the military was no longer able to track the apparent drone on its surveillance systems, possibly signifying that it was successfully intercepted or that it left the monitored area.

The incident has since concluded, the military says, as an immediate threat is no longer detected. No injuries were reported.

The military adds that an alert in the nearby community of Yiftah was triggered by a false identification.
