The Israel Defense Forces says it will be holding a military exercise in the Golan Heights this week.

Explosions are expected to be heard in the area, the IDF tells residents.

The IDF says the drill is aimed at “maintaining competence and readiness” of troops, adding that it is preplanned, meaning it did not stem from a new assessment.

The drill is expected to end early Thursday morning.
