Iranian general says Tehran was ‘in shock’ during recent war with Israel

Iran’s authorities were “stunned” and “in shock” following Israel’s June 13 strikes that dealt significant blows to Tehran’s nuclear program and launched a 12-day war between the countries, an Iranian general says, according to local media.

Ahmad Reza Pourdastan, the head of the Iranian army’s Strategic Studies and Research Center, is quoted by the pro-regime Jahan News outlet as saying at an academic conference: “I can honestly say that we were stunned during the 12-day war and were in shock.”

He then adds that “the leader of the revolution woke us up,” apparently referring to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
