At a Likud rally in support of Netanyahu, Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat says the ongoing investigations leave “no other explanation” than a conspiracy against the prime minister.
“We are here to say that we support our prime minister, he is doing a good job and he has the support of the people of Israel, of me as mayor, and we should let him do his job properly,” Barkat tells The Times of Israel.
“Nobody is above the law but everyone, including the prime minister, is innocent until proven guilty. They want to investigate him fine, but don’t do it over the news. The media is right in the interrogation room and someone is leaking them every detail. This is totally unacceptable,” he adds.
Asked if he thought there was a conspiracy against Netanyahu involving the state prosecution, Barkat said “there is no other explanation.
