Yesh Atid chair Yair Lapid slams Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for reportedly saying he wants to be able to make political appointments without it being subject to a hiring tender after the cabinet authorized a committee be set up to look into the issue.
“This is the sign of a political system that has betrayed the people of Israel and that only cares for itself, rather than working for its citzens,” Lapid tells his weekly faction meeting in the Knesset.
“The people of Israel have been forgotten because all that the politicians care about is politics, politics and jobs,” he says, lamenting the fact that it was deemed urgent to set up a committee to increase political appointments rather than one looking at the home front situation on the Gaza border, the polution in the Haifa area or the nationwide poverty levels
On Sunday, Netanyahu reportedly said he thought the government should be able to make political appointments, as is done in the US, according to Haaretz.
